The Airborne Toxic Event Are Slowly Gaining Steam
L.A. band-of-the-moment The Airborne Toxic Event are slowly but surely gaining steam in the mainstream on the strength of their self-titled debut album and an epic first single, "Sometime Around Midnight." While we're not quite sold on the album -- it's somewhat derivative and cautiously safe -- we'll definitely admit this song has been in our heads lately. It's kind of got a major 90's feel (think Love Spit Love, a little of The Wallflowers) with a radio-ready coda. Plus, they're not afraid to go after Pitchfork, which is always cool in our book. They're currently in the middle of an ambitious 30-shows-in-30-days tour of the UK, but are coming home to play a few dates before the year is over, including a December 8 stop at the Gramercy in New York. Scope two videos and the full list of dates after the jump.
