As we approach the end of this release year, there's not much to talk about in terms of new releases, save for an overlooked record from Brooklyn duo Welcome Wagon. Welcome Wagon's debut on Asthmatic Kitty was produced and recorded by "Mr. AK" himself, Sufjan Stevens. We have to say this record will appeal to fans of Mr. Stevens as it features his signature choir harmonies, periodic-horn flourishes, plunking guitars, and even a glockenspiel here and there. Overall it's a highly pleasing record, even if it's not breaking any new ground. Certainly recommended listening.
Also released today is a new covers EP Dark End of the Street from Cat Power and yet another LP from the remarkably consistent and prolific Mark Kozelek of Sun Kil Moon. The Finally LP is a record of instrumentals and covers culled from various projects Kozelek has been a part of. Take note of another Pavement reissue, Brighten the Corners.
