Pretty Good Dance Moves

Admittedly, we've been asleep at the wheel when it comes to Brooklyn/Chicago duo Pretty Good Dance Moves. Sucks for us.

After a chance hang with PGDM member Jimmy Giannopoulos, we started spinning their upcoming eponymous EP (March 2 release) and we're so glad we did. The EP is made up of six fully-formed and stellar tracks, highlighted by tasteful synths, meticulously crafted beats, and stand-out vocal performances from an array of artists in including Bjorn Yttling and Heather Christian. This is not the sophomoric synth-pop filler that clogs our inbox everyday. PGDM are insightful writers who know how to craft a tune, and create music that serves the purpose of that same song above all else. The melodies here are subtle, infectious, and tremendously rewarding. Special kudos to Heather Christian, who destroys the vocals on the above track. Gorgeous. We will be looking her up, uhh right now.

Pretty Good Dance Moves are playing an EP release show at Schubas in Chicago on Friday, March 12 with Harper Blynn.
