We were just talking about how great this band was with a friend across the pond in the UK. She wondered if she was behind the times in liking them. Alas, I said, you are not. The US is just behind the times in releasing the album. Those of us with the necessary means have been enjoying the hell out Mumford and Sons' debut album Sigh No More (February 16, Glassnote) for sometime now. While very derivative of current UK indie poppers Fanfarlo and Noah and the Whale (banjo driven, jangly folk-pop) it's hard to find fault with their well-crafted harmonies and clever, highly-melodic songwriting. While the US already has one Avett Brothers, audiences are sure to welcome their brothers-in-banjo rock, Mumford and Sons with equal vigor and appreciation. US dates after the jump.
February 9th - Los Angeles, CA - Troubadour
Feburary 11th - San Francisco, CA - Popscene
February 15th - Toronto, ON - Lee's Palace
February 18th - New York, NY - Bowery Ballroom
