Friday Night! Jamaica @ Mercury Lounge
Jamaica - I Think I Like U 2 (Database Remix) by database
Jamaica. Not sure who they are? Watch the video above. We often wondered how to put out a record too, but now we know thanks to this three-piece, turned two-piece, Parisian-electro-rock band. Don't let the name or the impossibleness of a simple Google search fool you -- this is no vacation destination, but a band boiling under the surface of the US indie scene waiting for their chance to break. Comparable to Phoenix, Foster the People, Naked and Famous, Cut Copy and more, Jamaica toe the line between the avant-garde and straight ahead four-on-the-floor elector pop. After garnering much praise in the UK/Europe following the release of their debut record, No Problem (Aug. 2010/Cooperative Music) Jamaica are gearing up for another US push.
If you can't catch them tomorrow night at the Mercury Lounge, be sure to get over to Brooklyn tonight (!) for their Knitting Factory performance.
